Supported Accommodations

The Care Society have years of experience in delivering homeless projects. As well as accommodating rough sleepers whenever we can, we realise the importance of the help and support we can offer them in order to help them move forward with their lives, becoming tenants in their own right and valued members of the community.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    The Care Society Supported Accommodations are effective in reducing homelessness across Mid and Central Wales and in improving the lives of the people we accommodate. 

Homeless people who, for one reason or another, are non-priority or have no duty for the Local Authority to house them (under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014), can be temporarily accommodated, keeping them off the streets and introducing them to the help and assistance they may need to turn their lives around.

Features of the project include:

• • 24 hour access, 365 days a year. Homeless presentations can be made at any time throughout the day or evening and, once accommodated, the service users are not restricted to one night. We are able to put an emphasis on longer-term prioritisation in order to create more stability, giving service users the opportunity to identify and deal with specific issues over a longer term.

  • Each service user is assigned a dedicated support worker on entry into the projects or referred to crisis support and advice through the support team.

  • Resettlement is addressed through working alongside the Care Society Social Lettings Scheme, sourcing suitable and sustainable future accommodation. These potential tenants will be supported into their tenancies and provided with the skills to maintain them.

  • A programme of activities is delivered to promote inclusion, confidence building, socialisation, etc. as a stepping stone to engaging with resettlement.

  • A signposting service to specific agencies in order to address specific needs e.g. substance misuse, mental health, etc.

  • Staff are trained and competent Workers and the accommodations are staffed throughout the day and night. All have proven experience of dealing with the demands of a broad and diverse service and client group.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

      How to access the Supported Accommodations?

By contacting the Care Society or by presenting at the Housing Department of the Local Authority.

How long can I stay in the Project?

There is no specific limit on the length of stay though it tends to be a short – term option whilst more stable and appropriate long-term accommodation is sought.

Is there a waiting list?

No, we do not operate a waiting list and aim to provide immediate shelter to anyone seeking help and referred by the Local Authority
